Good day everyone!
This is already a brand new year in Bali, having the Nyepi day (Saka New Year) just passed few days ago. And just like what any other new year brings, we have new days, new heart, new hope, new possibilities!
Today, Bali has a very bright day, as if the clouds and rain we had even until the Nyepi day, was washed away and replaced by sunny day everyday here.
So, it is a very good day to get on the bike and get on little tour around Bali. Either to do water sport on the beach or just enjoying lunch at the side of rice paddy field, Bali offers more than just a vacation.
Hindu Balinese, which is mixed of Hindu religion and Balinese traditional culture, for example, is always a very interesting tradition to watch. They are performing small ceremony every day at their houses and also on big days.
Nyepi day is another one special occasion to experience in Bali. It is one whole day of silence, where we are forced to get in touch with our selves, to introspect deep within, to restore the relationship with God(s). It is more like Sabbath day in Jewish, only this happens in Bali once a year.
The world had witnessed what Nyepi day brings to the environment. Now, people are trying to implement it with the Earth Hour, where we suppose to turn off any light or electricity for just 60 minutes all around the world. This activity had been done in three years for now.
The earth hour in 2012 will be done on Saturday, March 31, at 8.30 p.m. Therefore, even for just an hour, the earth can rest and we can restore our relationship with the environment. So, why don’t we take a part on this act together?
